listen-000000The Context of White Supremacy hosts the seventh study session on Ayi Kwei Armah’s iconic novel Two Thousand Seasons (1973). This text was one of Gus’ top 5 books – it’s probably one of Dr. Marimba Ani best-loved also. Last week’s session detailed the imprisonment of the small band of Africans who attempted to escape the White destroyers and the cooperating Koranche kingdom. Armah articulates the agony of seeing one’s homeland vanish from the position of bondage. The enslaved Africans encountered other captured black people; some chose to discontinue communication and resigned themselves to a miserable fate. This week’s installment continues the journey of the slave ship. We’ll evaluate their efforts to rebel and what life is worth when there is an absence of Justice. A key segment of this week’s text was included in Dr. Ani’s YURUGU.
