The preliminary results from a independent autopsy requested by the family of Michael Brown are in which show that Michael Brown was shot twice in the head and four times in other areas of his body. It appears all the entry wounds are in the front of his body indicating he was facing Officer Darren Wilson when he was shot multiple times. This is consistent with witness statements that Michael Brown had turned and faced the officer to give up after he had run from Wilson in fear for his life. Some of the witnesses state that the teenager had begged for his life before Officer Darren Wilson fired the fatal shots.

According to Dr. Michael M. Baden who is a former chief medical examiner for the City of New York, who flew to Missouri to perform the separate autopsy at the family’s request, said that Michael’s head was bent forward when the likely fatal shot was fired which struck him in the top of the head. He also said the fatal shot was likely the last of the bullets that hit Michael Brown. The doctor also said that there was no gun residue found on Michael’s body which indicates Officer Darren Wilson was not close to the victim when he fired his weapon. However, Dr. Baden said that determination could change if gun residue was found on Michael’s clothing.

Video and photographic evidence was confiscated from witnesses who willingly gave up their phones and it is not know if their property has been returned to them with videos and photos intact. Witnesses Piaget Crenshaw and Tiffany Mitchell, co-workers who both witnessed the shooting both say that Michael was a good distance from Officer Darren Wilson, at least 20 feet when the cop shot him. Both stated that Michael had his hands up in the air giving the universal symbol of surrender when he was “murdered”.
