The C.O.W.S. BLACK AND WHITE: THE WAY I SEE IT Part II

The Context of White Supremacy hosts the second study session on Richard Williams’ 2014 publication, Black & White: The Way I See It. Mr. Williams is the father of two of the greatest tennis players in history, Serena and Venus Williams. Mr. Williams is not the most popular or revered man on the tennis circuit. He’s been frequently criticized – even accused of “rigging” matches between his two child prodigies. Mr. Williams’ autobiography details the spectacular and constructive influence of his black mother – Mrs. Julia Metcalf Williams – as well as his childhood in the south. Our debut session documented Mr. Williams’ maternal grandparents – who were sharecroppers for a lying White Terrorist. Mr. Williams discussed his father’s dereliction of duty, and the stifling poverty he, his mother and siblings endured. Life-threatening White brutality was ever-present; he endured many Racist assaults and lived in fear that his mother (Julia Metcalf Williams) or sisters could be raped by White Men at any time. We’ll monitor the influence of Christianity/White Jesus and how Mr. Williams nourished the courage and #BlackSelfRespect to confront our enemies, Whites.
