Mrs. Tameka ‘Tiny’ Harris is married to the rapper and reality tv celebrity Clifford Joseph Harris, Jr. better known by his stage name T.I.. Tiny announced via social media that she recently underwent a medical and cosmetic procedure that involves implanting an “artificial iris” in both eyes to change their color, in Tiny’s case, “ice-gray,”.

Given Tiny is an African-American woman with a blonde dye job and already light skin complexion, the recent cosmetic change is sure to restart conversations on topical issues like black self-hatred and/or the pressures of the false beauty standards of white supremacy. Perhaps Mrs. Harris has life long self-esteem issues stemming from that pervasive false global standard of beauty or perhaps she thinks the color of her eyes are to be changed like a pair of shoes to accessorize whatever she is wearing.

Tiny says in her social media press, “I hated wearing contacts just for the color and it made my vision blurry. Blessed to say my vision is perfect after my ice-gray implants.”

So in addition to a person’s lips, breast and buttocks, add eyeballs to list of body parts people are injecting or inserting silicone based products. The company that performed Tiny’s procedure says the implant she received is called BrightOcular.

Its website says, “BrightOcular is a United States developed artificial iris implant made of a thin, flexible, biocompatible, colored medical grade silicone which has been developed to alter iris appearance for medical and cosmetic purposes.”

The product does have some very great medical benefits and can be used to correct a number of eye ailments but Tiny’s procedure was purely cosmetic reasons as she states in her social media press release.

You can be sure their will be some debate around Tiny’s decision to undergo an invasive eye procedures no matter how reportedly safe, just to change your physical appearance, especially so since a Black woman seems to be transforming herself into a copy of a European.

The only question remaining is can she still change her eye color by putting in colored contacts over her ice-gray implants? How many different color combinations could Tiny achieve with base color of gray?

At the end of the day only Tiny knows why she went as far as she did but her social media announcement kind of sounds like a sales pitch and she reportedly does not have a contract to promote BrightOcular. BrightOcular has offices where the 30 minute procedure can be performed in several countries and with a celebrity endorsement.
