The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Ms. Elena Herrada live from Michigan. Ms. Herrada is a non-white, non-black female – “Latina.” She is a member of the Detroit School Board and an activist with Detroiters Resisting Emergency Management. She was a guest on Leid Stories talk radio in September of this year and offered an explicit commentary on the White view of black people: I never understood the deep, deep rooted contempt that White people have for black people until I was a member of the school board. Black lives – especially the most vulnerable and poor – mean nothing to White people. As Ms. Herrada stated that she was a member of the “preferred minority group,” we’ll ask for her observations and evidence that she another other non-blacks are not subjected to the same contempt and terrorism as black people.
