The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Admitted Racist Randy Blazak. Mr. Blazak is part of the Department of Sociology at Portland State College. His research interests include: juvenile delinquency, hate crimes, masculinity, racism, prisons, and constructions of whiteness. He’s examining the transitioning of white supremacist inmates back into the community after their release from prison. He recently authored a blog post titled, “How B.B. King got me to stop being a racist.” Blazak confesses to growing up in the birthplace of the modern Klu Klux Klan – Stone Mountain, Georgia; he “grew up in a racist family, in a racist town, in a racist state, in a racist country.” He claims he was conditioned to fear black people, but artistic geniuses like B.B. King and Nina Simone helped value black lives and acknowledge his own Racism.
