The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Laurie Essig, Ph.D. Professor Essig studies sociology and gender studies at Middlebury College. She’s the author of American Plastic: Boob Jobs, Credit Cards, and Our Quest for Perfection. She’s a contributing author to Psychology Today, where a good bit of her writing explores White Supremacy. We’ll review her recent essay on the Charleston massacre, “Dylann Roof Is White Like Me.” She encourages White people to own Dylann Roof as one of their kindred, an inevitable product of white culture. Professor Essig also wrote about the torpedoed wedding plans of Roof’s White sister. It seems she may have an interesting thought on Rachel Dolezal as well.
