BTR News – Obama to close slavery loophole in Tariff Act of 1930

President Obama is set to sign an amendment that would close a slavery loophole in the Tariff Act of 1930 that allows goods imported into the USA connected to slavery according to the NY Times.

The NY Times writes, “For 85 years, the law has exempted goods derived from slavery if American domestic production could not meet demand.”

However, this is just more hypocrisy on behalf of the US Government when the Federal government in addition to state and private prisons utilizing the labor of prisoners. The federal government operates a number of prison labor factories under the name UNICOR that contracts out prisoner labor and sell goods made by prisoners.

Members of the Congressional Black Caucus continue to have their judgement and ethics questioned with the endorsement of Hillary Clinton by the deceptively named Congressional Black Caucus PAC. Some young Black voters say it is time to take on the Black Washington, DC establishment with a Black progressive movement.
