New Abolitionists Radio: Former Sheriff Lee Baca Convicted Of Corruption Related To LA Jail

Today is the March 22nd broadcast of New Abolitionists Radio. We’re 12 weeks deep into 2017 and as a nation we have collectively fallen into the Alice’s rabbit hole.

On this day in 1765 the Stamp Act passed; The 1st direct British tax on colonists. The colonists insisted that the act was unconstitutional, and they resorted to mob violence and riots to intimidate stamp collectors into resigning. On more than one occasion stamp tax collectors were murdered outright, their homes burned, businesses destroyed and all their possession taken by mobs. Including their slaves. 10 years later colonists rose up in open rebellion against the British resulting in the Declaration of Independence on July 4th 1776.
It starts with this declaration; “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness”. • Our Rider of The 21st century Underground Railroad is 60-year-old former Navy sailor Keith Allen Harward who was wrongfully convicted of a Newport News rape and murder back in 1983. He has been locked up 33 years, at one point facing the death penalty.
This week after DNA evidence exonerated him, the Virginia Supreme Court threw out his conviction.
