A major voting rights victory in New York. New York City’s Board of Elections has entered into a consent decree with the federal government to restore the voting rights of those who were illegally purged from registration rolls.
Most of the residents who were purged lived in Brooklyn. After showing up at the polls, they were either not allowed to vote because their names had been removed, or were required to fill out affidavit ballots.
Kristen Clarke, President and Executive Director of the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law joined Roland Martin on NewsOne Now to discuss the settlement and the ongoing fight for voting rights.
