Ex-boyfriend Savagely Beats & Kills 21 Yr old Mom For Asking For Paternity Test

BTR News (Phoenix) – 21 yr-old Jasmine Dunbar was horrifically murdered allegedly by her ex-boyfriend 20 yr-old  Antwaun Travon Ware, who is in custody and charged with kidnapping, abandonment of a body and child abuse. The motive? Ms. Dunbar, the mother of a 7-month-old baby girl named Ariel, was said to have asked the young man for a paternity test. Instead of reacting in a reasonable manner, Ware allegedly beat the young woman unconscious or badly injured, perhaps, left her lying in a field, returned and set Dunbar on fire with gasoline, paper, and a cigarette. It is not clear but there is a possibility that Ms. Dunbar was still alive when set afire in an act of callous indifference for the possible mother of someone’s child.

Tonya Smith, Dunbar’s mother, told reporters that she and her daughter had just begun to develop a closer bond when Jasmine gave birth to Ariel. “Jasmine had Ariel, and God brought us right back where we were supposed to be. And she’s the center of all of that,” Smith said.

Smith told reporters that Ware was the last person Jasmine was seen with riding in a car with Ariel. Ariel was found without injury abandoned in the same area her mother’s body was found.

A Gofund has been set up by the family to help with funeral expenses which is $2,000 short of the $10,000 goal.

There have been several vigils for Jasmine Dunbar including one that was held Friday evening outside the Phoenix field where police recovered the 21-year-old’s body.

“We all gained a beautiful angel looking down on us and guiding us,” Yvonne Young, one of Dunbar’s close friends, said at one of the vigils. “If there was one person who didn’t deserve this, it was Jasmine,” Young said.
