The Context of White Supremacy hosts the third study session on Ayi Kwei Armah’s revered novel Two Thousand Seasons (1973). This novel was one of Gus’ top five books – it’s likely a favorite of Dr. Marimba Ani also. Last week’s installment detailed the group of Africans who chose to migrate away from Whites and Victimized askaris. Their perilous journey made them doubt that they would ever find sanctuary. The moment they began to doubt themselves, is when they turned on each other violently. A small number of the travelers remained dedicated to concluding their sojourn safely – which motivated all the sojourners to continue the pilgrimage. We’re continuing to work through chapter three, and we’ll see how if our travelers are able to re-affirm their commitment to The Way. We’ll also keep an eye out for parallels to the current operations of the plantation as well as the contamination of White Jesus/Christianity.
