Mitt Romney joins calls from around country calling for racist Police Commissioner to resign

Former GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney has added his voice to those calling for the resignation of New Hampshire police commissioner Robert Copeland. Romney owns a home in the New Hampshire town of Wolfeboro where a resident overheard Copeland call President Obama a nigger. In a statement on Copeland, Romney said, “The vile epithet used and confirmed by the commissioner has no place in our community: He should apologize and resign.”

Thus far, Copeland has remained defiant and is resisting calls for his resignation from the elected position he holds with the local police commission. If he does not resign, residents have said they will mount a recall election. Copeland ran unopposed when he was last elected to a three year term.

The Wolfeboro Police Department has been getting calls from around the country from people making threats and demanding Copeland resign.
