Detroit’s child killing cop goes on trial for second time

Detroit Police Officer Joseph Weekley returns to court today to be tried a second time on reckless discharge of a firearm causing death and involuntary manslaughter charges stemming from the SWAT team no-knock raid he led on the home where 7-year-old Aiyana Jones-Stanley was killed. Wayne County Judge Cynthia G. Hathaway declared a mistrial in the June 2013 trial after a jury said it couldn’t reach a unanimous decision on a verdict.
