The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Rev. Jarrett Maupin and Renee Huff. Rev. Maupin is a Phoenix, Arizona resident, an alumnus of Arizona State University, and the youngest person elected to public office in the state’s history. Rev. Maupin has submitted his time and energy to support many causes related to the System of Racism. Most recently, he’s been a staunch supporter of ASU professor Dr. Ersula Ore; she was slammed to the ground by a White ASU officer (Stewart Ferrin) in the spring of 2014. Dr. Ore has launched a $2 million suit against ASU, the board of regents and officer Ferrin. Rev. Maupin initially favored that Ferrin’s employment as an officer be terminated; however, he and a coalition of concerned black females had a meeting with Ferrin at Lo-Lo’s Chicken & Waffles. Renee Hunt is a community activist and was one of the concerned black females who attended the meeting. Following this exchange, Rev. Maupin stated that he would like for Dr. Ore and Mr. Ferrin to continue their employment with the university. We’re anxious to learn what was said during the meeting and what questions the black females wanted answered.
