The Context of White Supremacy welcomes the return of Dr. Tommy J. Curry. An Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Texas A&M, Dr. Curry’s research interests include philosophy, jurisprudence, Africana Studies, and Gender Studies. His primary area of focus is Critical Race Theory and Africana Philosophy. We’ll get Dr. Curry’s views on the disabled black Idaho teen who was terrorized and raped by his White classmates. Dr. Curry often emphasizes that the rape of black males is integral feature of White Supremacy. We’ll also get his thoughts on the alleged “toxic masculinity” of Nate Parker. The filmmaker’s anticipated Nat Turner biopic has been sidetracked with discussion about an alleged rape of a White Woman from 20 years ago. Many black people have voiced ambivalence about seeing the film and insisted that this is why “heterosexual” black males can not be the representatives for black liberation. We’ll also review Dr. Curry’s latest report, which dissects the black male experience at predominantly white institutions.
