Colorado Is First State To Attempt To Abolish State Sanctioned Slavery & Human Trafficking

On August 28, 2018, a group of citizens, politicians and community organizers launched a movement to abolish slavery in the state of Colorado pointing out that the 13th Amendment of the US Constitution and the Colorado Constitution does not abolish slavery and allows slavery to be legal as “punishment of crime”. Abolitionists in Colorado are seeking to end slavery by removing the exception clause via Amendment A. Just a week prior to the launch of the Colorado campaign to abolish slavery, a national prison strike launched with prisoners in federal, state and private prisons calling for among other demands, an end to prison slavery.
