The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly Compensatory Call-In. We encourage non-white listeners to dial in with their codified concepts, new terms, observations, research findings, workplace problems or triumphs, and/or suggestions on how best to Replace White Supremacy With Justice ASAP. We’ll use these sessions to hone our use of words as tools to reveal truth, neutralize White people. We’ll examine news reports from the past seven days and – hopefully – promote a constructive dialog.
Spring of 2020 is coming to a merciful conclusion. As oppose to sunshine and flowers, the air is ripe with tear gas, gun shots, and the clamor of looters and protesters. The marches against police killings of black people have continued across the world. In Gus’s Seattle, a 27-year-old black male protester, Daniel Gregory, was shot, but survived. The gunman, Nikolas Fernandez, was arrested and faces first degree assault charges. Gus visited the Capitol Hill area where the shooting took place a day later. The area looked like a war zone. I’ve never been more terrified in my time in Seattle. The Seattle looters (many of them White) used machinery to break into jewelry stores, got the Capitol Hill police department to abandon the facilities, and drew the ire of President Donald J. Trump – who threatened to fix Seattle’s problems for them. #4MoYears In South America, Brazil is experiencing the exact same thing. Protests against the murder of black people have ravaged the country as has Covid-19. President Bolsonaro is accused of deliberately minimizing the damage of the virus to black people.
