The film “12 Years A Slave” picked up an Oscar for best picture along with other related categories making it a big night for those associated with it. The film is being promoted by The National School Boards Association as recommended curriculum for public high school students and that prompted one of the hosts of New Abolitionists Radio, Yohanan EliYah, to create an online petition against the recommendation.
We will also look at how films like “12 Years A Slave create false perceptions among the masses about slavery in the United States, director Steve McQueen’s abolitionist ties, how the UK handles curriculum on slavery and more.
