The Black Talk Media Project and its founder Scotty T Reid were denied a permit to hold a rally against terrorism on 9/11/2021 that was applied for at the Dallas Police Department in Dallas North Carolina. The rally against terrorism was to be from 5 pm to 6 pm and was going to feature speakers highlighting 400 plus years of terrorism against Black and Indigenous people by people classifying as white.
The police department in declining the permit citing there would be all-day events on the grounds of the old Dallas courthouse, which was built by victims of slavery. The grounds also include a monument to confederate soldiers who belonged to the terrorist organization Confederate States of America.
In protest, Scotty and several other participants totaling no more than 7 people, held a silent protest at the 6:30 pm event for law enforcement and first responders which concluded with a concert and a live band.
