The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly forum on Neutralizing Workplace Racism. A tumultuous, confounding, and grueling 2021 continues to punish non-white people around the world. The workplace continues to be especially challenging. There’s been a complete spectrum of chaos. From Washington state to Illinois, worker shortages are making a stressful start to the new school year even more anxious – if not down right impossible. A week after the Food And Drug Administration officially approved the Pfizer vaccine, more businesses and universities moved to require vaccines for all students and/or employees. On one hand, White police officers, White fire fighters and a myriad of other workers loudly oppose these requirements. The fake vaccine card business is booming, and there are support groups to assist employees successfully claim a religious exemption to vaccines. On the other hand, fears of another shutdown and the potential work stoppages, layoffs and closures makes autumn look ominous. Federal unemployment benefits are slated to end this week in the U.S. Some reports suggest even this will fail to motivate many workers to return to low-paying, “dead end” jobs.
