By Scotty Reid – You may have heard that Trayvon Martin’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, has endorsed Hillary Clinton in her political battle for the presidential nomination of the Democratic party, the other party with the stranglehold on American so-called democracy.
Even though Sabrina Fulton has open up herself up to criticism in endorsing a political candidate, she wouldn’t be alone as she is one of several black mothers with sons fallen to racist violence and police terrorism. If one looks closely at the Clinton campaign, a pattern emerges that suggests the victims families may have been targeted by the Clinton team for the purpose of political endorsements soon after leaving her scandal-filled post as Secretary of State February in 2013.
Later that same year, Clinton became vocal on Trayvon Martin’s case when the verdict was handed down in George Zimmerman’s murder trial.
“My prayers are with the Martin family and with every family who loves someone who is lost to violence,” Clinton told the (historically black) Delta Sigma Theta Sorority at its annual conference in 2013. “No mother, no father should ever have to fear for their child walking down a street in the United States of America.”
Clinton also invoked Trayvon Martin’s name during her criminal justice speech at Columbia University last year, which ironically became the first university in the United States to divest itself of lucrative private prison stocks in the mass incarceration industry that Hillary Clinton helped build.
As more and more people become aware of Hillary Clinton’s promotion of the racialized teenaged “superpredator” theory in the 90s they should also be cognizant that the tragic outcomes for the Trayvon Martin’s of the United States did not materialize overnight.
The now infamous video clip of Hillary Clinton giving a speech in Keene, New Hampshire was recorded in February of 1996. This was around the same time Trayvon Martin was about to celebrate his first birthday. In the video Hillary Clinton as was common among racist talk radio during that time, Hillary Clinton in this 1996 criminal justice speech suggested that Black teens were “super-predators” that had to be brought to “heel” which is a term used usually to describe subduing a person or people with violence. Remarkedly different rhetoric than she has been using for the past 3 years as she magically transforms into a progressive Democrat. Sixteen years after that 1996 New Hampshire speech, Trayvon Martin would be tracked, menaced and killed by George Zimmerman who mounted a “super-predator” defense.
Fox News anchors and other conservative media personalities were busy promoting an updated version of the super-predator during its coverage of Martin’s killing at the hands of Zimmerman. Only a master manipulator like Clinton could turn a political negative into a positive by changing her tune in the twilight of her political career and acting like she bears no personal responsibility in harming millions of people.
However, reaching out to a woman whose child you helped to socially criminalize and victimize by way of public policy and social commentary, Hillary Clinton is a super predator in her own right.
